Questions about Employment
Q: What does scheduling look like?
A: We have a block schedule for classes (2 hours each class) and require teachers to arrive at least 15 minutes before class and stay after to clean and reset classroom.
Q: How many students will I have?
A: We have a 6:1 student to teacher ratio, but when you first start out we will assign you to 2-3 students per class.
Q: What type of mediums does the school have to offer?
A: Graphite, Prismacolor, Pastel, Oil, Acrylic, Watercolor, Gouache (Opaque Watercolor) and Sculpey Clay. You will learn different techniques with each medium.
Q: What is required of me?
A: A learners attitude, being attentive, redirecting students in a kind and professional way, gauging students abilities and teaching them accordingly and a strong understanding of the elements of art and principles of design.
Q: What if I cannot make it to my shift?
A: Please DO NOT call in 5 min before your shift. We are very lenient with time off requests and can usually accommodate if given a notice of at least 48 hours before your scheduled shift. For emergencies or unexpected circumstances, contact the school ASAP.
Q: Do you offer PTO?
A: No. We are a small buisness
Q: Can I apply if I am still a student?
A: Yes, we accept all education levels. Having a strong understanding of art concepts and being able to communicate those concepts to students is what we are looking for. We value the ability to create a positive and engaging learning environment.
Q: What age groups will I be working with?
A: We teach all ages and will sit you in the age group you are most comfortable teaching.
Q: What is the dress code?
A: We will be getting dirty and covered in paint, pastels and other messy art supplies. Dress code is a mix of casual and professional. As long as there is no excessive skin showing we are all good.
Q: Can I have colored hair, piercings and/or tattoos?
A: We are all artists here! Body mods are fine as long as facial piercings are not excessive and tattoos are below the neck and do not contain vulgar images or words. Have rainbow hair for all we care!
Q: What does the training process look like
A: In the beginning you will be shadowing your fellow instructors, getting to know the rhythm and students. You will get the opportunity to shadow in every class to find which class works best for you. Once you are comfortable we will assign you 1 or 2 students and go up from there.
Q: What age do you start accepting students into the Children’s Program?
A: We start accepting students at age 5.
